People Helping People
The Fraternal Order of Eagles, an international nonprofit organization, unites fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.
Charity Events
People Helping People about sums it up. Service is at the heart of the FOE’s mission, and especially so at Lincoln’s 147. There is something to be said for having fun while you’re doing and we do that really well, too!
Nationally, the FOE donates more than $10 million a year to local communities, fundraisers, charities and more. As part of its philosophy, the FOE gives back 100 percent of monies raised in the form of grants. Fundraisers are conducted for eight major charities, including kidney, heart, diabetes, cancer and spinal cord injury funds, a children’s fund, memorial foundation and the Golden Eagle Fund.
Annual Eksoskeleton Poker Run
Since 2019, the Lincoln Eagles Club coordinates The Annual Eksoskeleton Poker Run, for the benefit of the National FOE Eksoskeleton Fund. Monies raised are used to purchase Ekso bionic suits to be donated to Veteran’s rehab facilities, ultimately allowing Veterans with spinal cord injuries to walk again. Since 2016, the national fund has donated six Ekso bionic suits, with three currently in use in Nebraska.
Christmas Toy Drive
During the 2022 Christmas season, we came alongside the Center for People in Need in Lincoln, NE to help those who need a little. Every year we choose a community partner to help make Christmas a little more like it’s supposed to be.
